I am based in North Norfolk, UK and teach general weekly Hatha Yoga classes, therapeutic yoga workshops and Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs 12-week courses in this area.
I also offer an annual yoga retreat in the spring-time.
My introduction to Yoga was in 1989, when I was taken by a friend to attend a 'Rest & Renewal Day' at Kripalu Centre for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts, USA.
Since then, I have followed a meandering path of self-exploration through many different somatic practices. For many years I have practiced and been deeply nourished by Authentic Movement, having studied initially with Joan Davis and continuing my studies with Linda Hartley. I am particularly at home when outdoors and often take my Yoga, meditation and Authentic Movement into the woods, onto the beach, or into the garden.
My work life has also meandered and I have enjoyed nursing (I qualified as a State Registered Nurse in 1982), organic gardening, owning an organic shop, teaching dance, massage therapy and support work for people with learning disabilities.
In 2008, I decided to settle my attentions onto Yoga and in 2009 I travelled to India to do my teacher-training. I stayed for two months at Yoga Vidya Gurukul, an isolated ashram amidst the beautiful mountains of Maharashtra state,
completing both the 250-hour teacher-training and the 250-hour yoga-therapy training.
Since my experiences in India, I have also completed the British Wheel of Yoga Teacher Training and have gained a Diploma in Yoga Therapy with Yoga campus, London. All aspects of my life have been touched by Yoga and I am frequently moved by the eternal relevance and beautiful simplicity of this system. I have had the privilege of studying with many wise and wonderful teachers
and have also attained the following additional qualifications:
Yoga for healthy Lower Backs with Alison Trewhela
Restorative Yoga with Jusith Lasater
Yoga for Women and Pre-Natal Yoga with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli
Yoga for M.E. with Fiona Agombar
